Astrid Irene Kugelberg (nee Andersen) suffered a massive stroke in her sleep Friday evening November 28th she never regained consciousness and left this life to be with God on Monday evening December 1st.
Astrid was born in Chicago Sept 15, 1925 to her beloved late parents Anders & Ingrid Andersen and was very "Proud to be Norwegian!"
During WWII she went to California to become "Rosie the Riveter" at Northrup Aviation. After the war she married her beloved late husband Herman Ernst Kugelberg in 1948. They bought a house in Franklin Park in 1950 and lived there till her death.
Astrid was very active in both her church Bethlehem Lutheran-River Grove and the community. She was involved with both PTA and the Franklin Park Women's Club.
In her retirement she was always on-the-go both volunteering at Gottlieb Hospital and with the Senior Center at North Park.
Astrid is survived by her three sons Kurt, Craig and Mark; two daughters-in-law Linda & Vickie; four grandchildren Isaac, Sean, Erika and Alex; one granddaughter-in-law Natalie; one grandson-in-law Tony; and a very special great-granddaughter Hannah.
A memorial service is planned at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 2624 Oak Street in River Grove on Saturday December 6th at 12:00 pm followed by coffee, tea and some of Mom's favorite things "sweets" in the church multi-purpose room.
