Barbara Henk, 87, a 65-year resident of Franklin Park, IL, passed away on August 6, 2023.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Franklin Henk.
Together they had four children: Vicki (Billy) Burke, Cyndi (Tim) Jungkuntz, Tim (Lynn) Henk, and Paul Henk ~ eight grandchildren: Neal, Shawn, Kevin, Joanna, Greg, Jeff (Jessica), Christopher (Ashley), and Ashley (Nick) ~ and six great grandchildren: Hayley, Nico, Aubrey, Elliana, Landen, and Cayden.
Barbara also loved their pets.
She would ask about them in conversation, cards, and letters.
She was "grand mom" to three cats; Noelle, Misty, and Oreo, and three dogs; Jasmine, Dakota, and London.
She loved to travel, seeing all but three states (Georgia, Florida and Hawaii) including a trip to Europe and several to White Sox spring training in Arizona.
There was an annual trek to visit the “The Rock” in Iowa.
She faithfully attended her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and took them on trips as well.
Her house was a gathering place for every holiday for friends, family, and strangers alike.
She was a funny and happy woman.
There was always laughter at any and all occasions.
Barbara's hobbies included bowling in many leagues over the years, knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and Da Bears.
She served for many years on several committees at Resurrection Lutheran Church.
Anyone who knew her knew how much she loved the American flag.
Her wardrobe matched the five flags that fly in front of the house.
She hugged and thanked every veteran she came across.
There will be no public services.
