Daniel Silenzi

Dan Silenzi Jr. (Papa) was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Beloved husband of Marlene, father of Dan (Beth), Michael (Jennifer) and Rob, godfather of Mike Nargie, grandfather of Damiano, Dan, Kimberly, Mikey, Mike, Nick, Caitlyn, Isabella and Sebastian, great uncle of Savannah and Stephanieand special uncle of many. Dan taught us about what was important in life. A night with Dan almost always ended with him telling us how lucky he was because he was surrounded by family. Family was never about with whom he shared blood - Dan was notorious for taking people in and loving them as his own. He loved whole-heartedly and unconditionally. Dan taught his sons to hold a hockey stick, wield a paintbrush and to be incredible fathers. He shared with them his sense of humor and his appreciation of good food. He coached each of his son's hockey teams, and instilled in them his love of the game. All continue to play, coach, referee and pass the love of the game to their children. He also shared his passions with his grandchildren - his love of hockey, his enthusiasm for gambling, and his penchant for libations. He taught them to handicap horses, bait hooks, and put their family first. His eyes always twinkled with pride for the family he created. He showed us all what it was to be married for 50 plus years, and still be madly in love. He insisted on vacationing as a family - summers were spent in a boat or on a beach making memories. He wasn't afraid to be sentimental, when the moment called for it. And he always reminded us to laugh - nothing was ever so serious that Dan couldn't crack a joke about it. He will be sorely missed by all. Family and friends will gather Monday, May 23rd at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home & Crematorium 9568 Belmont Ave. Franklin Park from 4:00 to 8:00 with a celebration of life service at 8:00 P.M.
