Doris Kate Weschenfelder, 66, of East Dundee, formerly of River Grove, passed away on December 30, 2020.
Beloved daughter of the late George Weschenfelder and Adele McGee (Raab).
Ex-wife of the late Steve Radaha. Cherished partner to the late Jimmy Chesser. Loving mother of the late Steven Radaha (Becki).
She is survived by her daughters Meagan (Douglas), Carla (John), and Lisa.
Proud grandmother of Anthony and Leann.
Friend and "mom" to many.
Doris was a strong-willed and independent woman with an unequivocal work ethic, traits that were instilled in her children from early on. She was proud of her tenure at FedEx for nearly 25 years and often referred to her colleagues as her extended family. Regardless of what happened during the sort, Doris was always there to talk it out over coffee. She was known to join co-workers for breakfast or invite them to the infamous Elm St. block parties.
When not at work, Doris was often gardening and feeding the East Dundee wildlife that arrived onto her back porch. Recently, she became a cat mom when she took in the neighborhood feral cat, Monroe. She loved spending time with family and would often brag about her children and grandchildren's accomplishments to anyone in her company. She appreciated the countless hours spent hunting and fishing in Michigan with her dear friend Ron. She also enjoyed traveling; whether it was the numerous visits to family in Arizona or a weekend getaway with her daughters, Doris was always up for a trip. She looked forward to visiting her family in Germany or finding her spot on a sunny beach upon her retirement.
Like her mother, she found joy in making family recipes such as German pizzas, schnitzel, or just cooking a giant meal that could feed the entire neighborhood. She valued her friendships and most recently enjoyed reconnecting with former classmates from Foreman High School. Mom certainly had the gift of gab, gladly shared her opinion welcomed or not, provided an ear to listen, and always tried to make you feel at home. She is tremendously missed.
