Elizabeth Cristal Estrada, affectionately known as Eli or Gigi by family and Liz from friends, of Chicago and Franklin Park. She passed away on July 12, 2024, at the young age of 18. Born in Chicago on May 31, 2006, to Reyna Sazo and Cristian Estrada, Elizabeth was a light in the lives of all who knew her. Her hometown of Chicago and Franklin Park was not just a place she lived; it was a community she cherished and contributed to with her whole heart.
As a senior at West Leyden High School, Elizabeth poised to embark on a future as bright as her smile. She worked part-time at a local Dennis Restaurant, a fitting role for someone who found joy and solace in serving others. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her job, it was her way of being and making others feel good.
Elizabeth's hobbies were as diverse as they were heartfelt. An avid reader, skilled painter. Her favorite sports were, swimming and Soccer, and occasionally volleyball and basketball. She found beauty in many forms of expression. More than anything, Elizabeth loved spending time with her friends and family, bringing joy and laughter into their lives.
Elizabeth's kind heart and radiant smile were her trademarks, earning her the love and admiration of her classmates, teachers and all who knew her.
Sadly, Elizabeth's journey was cut short, and she is now reunited with her maternal grandfather, Felipe Sazo and her Aunt, Maura Sazo who predeceased her. Her spirit, however, lives on in the hearts of those she left behind. Elizabeth is deeply missed by her parents, Reyna and Cristian Estrada; her younger brother, Cristian Noel; her boyfriend Brian Ortega, her beloved maternal grandmother Evelia Montenegro, her paternal grandparents Edgar Estrada and Sonia Ruiz, Her beloved Aunt and role model Flor Estrada and a host of extended family members such as her chosen Grandparents Hector Armando Mejia and Rosa Elvira Estrada; Her God Parents Rudy Marquez, Dolores Gomez, Carlos Marquez, Ingrid Jeannete Estrada, Her favorite cousins and friends who were blessed to know her. “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV
Visitation will be held at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home, 9568 Belmont Ave., Franklin Park, Il on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, July 20, 2024, for prayers at 9:30 am the processing to St. Gertrude Church for mass at 10:00 am.
Interment at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery will follow the mass.
