After a difficult battle with Alzheimer's, Filomena ("Flo") Porubsky, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Salandra, Italy in 1938, she migrated to America when she was 17 with her parents, Saverio and Nicoletta Croce, younger brother, William, and younger sister Lisa. Filomena was a devout Catholic who was passionate about community and family. She participated in countless community engagement clubs, choir, and church events over the years.
After her family moved from the Chicago area to Franklin Park, Filomena began working at Motorola. It was there that she met Richard Porubsky and they married in 1964. They were married for 53 years and had two children together, John and Anna (nee Porubsky) Bolger. Filomena was a fiercely dedicated mother, raising two children. Her family would not be where they are today if they didn't have Filomena as a mother.
After the passing of Richard in 2017, Filomena moved to California to live with her sister, Lisa, in 2021. She is survived by her son, John (Tina), daughter, Anna (Johnny), and grandson Sean as well as her siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at Sax-Tiedemann in Franklin Park on December 2, 2022, at 4 to 8 PM.
