Frank Orlandino

Frank (Butch) Orlandino passed away unexpectedly, with his loyal companion, Lady, by his side.

A proud Union Pipefitter with Local 597, Frank worked from 1966 until his retirement in 2008. Over his distinguished career, he advanced from apprentice to journeyman, ultimately becoming a foreman for the last 10 years. He was highly respected as a skilled leader who mentored many apprentices and journeymen. Among his notable achievements were overseeing the locker room rebuild for Northwestern University Football in the early '80s, contributing to the construction of the Amoco Research Center in Naperville, and helping expand the Central DuPage Nursing facility. Throughout his career, Frank forged lifelong friendships.

An avid sports enthusiast, Frank’s love for sports began in little league and continued throughout his life. He was a three-year letterman for his high school football team, the Holy Cross Crusaders, and later coached little league baseball in Melrose Park for many years. His passion for sports never waned, and he became a devoted fan of the New York Yankees, Northwestern University football and basketball teams, and the Indiana University Hoosiers basketball team. Frank traveled far and wide to support his teams, attending at least eight Final Four basketball tournaments, numerous Northwestern Bowl games, and many trips to Yankee Stadium. In 2019, he developed a close friendship with Coach Chris Collins of the Northwestern Men’s Basketball Team, who supported him emotionally during his successful battle with cancer.

Frank is survived by his brother, Vito; son, Brian; daughter, Diana Orlandino-Casula; and grandson, Marcus Casula.

In celebration of Frank's life, we invite you to join us for an open house at Two Brothers From Italy, located at 128 W Park Ave, Elmhurst, IL 60126, on Sunday, February 2, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Come together to enjoy pizza, a shot of blackberry brandy, and cherished memories of Frank. Everyone is welcome.
