Gary Young

Beloved son of Bob and Mary (Tuminaro) Young. 
Dear brother of Jeff, Denise (Steve), the late Marty, Brian (Sharon), Doreen (Barry), Roger, and Christopher (Karol).
Caring uncle of Ryan, Allison, Sophie, and Veronica.
Cherished great uncle of Oona, Goldie, Jack, Hollis, and Maeve. 

While a young boy Gary developed a love for the guitar and started taking lessons at age 7. 
He continued that love throughout his life and eventually played in a band with his friends called the “UBANGI HOODS”. 
Gary played football and baseball in at East Leyden High School.
He loved sports and followed them closely. 
Gary loved to talk and did so all the time!
You would always know what on his mind and he was always engaging. 
He had a talent of taking an ordinary story and making it extraordinary! 
You could often find him weaving a tale as a caller on late night AM radio shows. 
He liked cars, he had a 65 HIPO Mustang and a 1970 Mach One Mustang. 
He had an early Harley Hog maybe 66, and a 1968 Sportster he rode to Sturgis SD with a girlfriend. 
Gary enjoyed a lot of great times and memories in Wasco where he lived for 19 years with two of his brothers. 
In his early days Gary worked as a fuel injection tech at Robert Bosch and had traveled to Germany for training. 
He learned how to drive a truck from his cousin John Tuminaro and trucking from cousins Phil Mike and Pete.

Gary’s best achievement would be to successfully battle alcoholism for many years.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at St. Gertrude Church, 11:00 am ~ 9613 Schiller Blvd., Franklin Park, IL, 60131.
