George Dettloff

George Dettloff

George E. Dettloff 96 passed away peacefully with pup “Buddy” on November 30, 2024.

George was born in Franklin Park, Illinois to Edward and Alice Dettloff. He attended grade school and graduated from Franklin Park High School. After high school George enlisted in the Army and is a veteran of WWII where he was stationed in Germany and Japan.

After his military enlistment he went to work for Motorola and was an upper management executive. He was also a caregiver for both his mother and friend Tom until their passing. Upon his retirement from Motorola he went into the business of building and buying/flipping homes. He retired from this business and started taking life a little slower.

George enjoyed gardening but his passion was for garage sales, thrift stores and dumpster diving. He loved to tinker and fix things that he found and donations from other people and then he would turn around and donate to his favorite charities and missions

George was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Belvedere which he helped to establish in 1999.

George was preceded in death by his parents, sister Shirley, brother Arthur and business partner and very close friend Tom. He is survived by nephews Randy, Jim, Kevin (Lou Ann) Dettloff, niece Linda (John) Fitzgerald, nephew Danny (Virginia) Wilberschied and Caregivers Jean (Buddy and Dorothy) and Ann.

Visitation will be on Sunday December 8th from 11:00 am to 12:00pm at Seventh Day Adventist Church 325 N. Alpine Rd Rockford, IL with services to follow. Burial service with military rites will be Monday December 9th at 11:00am at Mount Emblem Cemetery 520 E Grand Ave. Elmhurst, IL.

George was a very caring and loving man and will be remembered, missed and treasured by all.
