Harold Johannesen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Leroy Johannesen Jr. on February 18, 2025, at the age of 84. Harold was born on September 2nd, 1940 in Chicago, IL to Harold and Ila (Clary) Johannesen.

Harold met the love of his life and beloved wife, Jean (Otowski) Johannesen in high school. They were married in 1960 and had two children, Pam and Rich. 

Harold worked for TWA and also as a general chairman for the IAM union. This position introduced him and his family to their love of travel. Harold has many friends all over the country and has continued to share his love of travel with his grandchildren as well. Harold was a believer of giving his kids and grandkids the gift of experiences. The whole family would go on numerous family vacations together each year. 

Harold also had a love for hockey, he played as a goalie and was a referee for many years, which formed bonds he still had to the day he passed and will continue through his children. Harold enjoyed fishing, fast cars, and had a hobby of building and collecting model trains. He formed many bonds through his hobbies and clubs he was an avid member and supporter of. 

His wife, Jean, Pam, his daughter, Rich, his son and his three grandchildren, Kevin, Jacob, and Amanda were his entire world. His beloved wife, children and grandchildren gave him strength during the rough times and laughter and joy all the time. He was so proud of his kids and grandkids, and his family will hold dear all the stories and memories they will continue to share to keep his memory alive. Harold was known for his strong will, stubbornness, and love and support for his family.

Harold is survived by his daughter Pam (Kurt) Savino, his son Rich (Gina) Johannesen, his grandson Kevin (Amber) Johannesen, and his granddaughter Amanda (Chris) Savino. Harold was preceded in passing by his wife Jean Johannesen, and his grandson Jacob Johannesen.
