James W. Miller, Sr.
Passed away peacefully at home July 22, 2015 at the age of 89.
Beloved husband of 68 years to Gertrude.
Loving father of Pat (Bob), Barb (Marty), Gloria, Jim, Jr. (Cindy), Cathy (Skip), Carol (Curt), and Mary (Bill).
Cherished grandfather of Dawn (Steve), Dominic (Deidre), Chrissy (Steve), Jean (Randal), Jimmy III, Tommy, Timmy, Jessica, Michael (Angi), Nicole (Nathan), and Adam.
Proud Great Grandfather of Noah, Isabelle, Olivia, Joe, Bobby, Zac, Jake, Persephone, Phoebe, Max, Colin, Arya, Colton, Austin, Taylor, J.D., Caden, and Dylan.
Dear brother of Arlene. Uncle of Michael, Ann Marie, and Mary Ellyn.
Jim was very proud to have served his country in the Marine Corps First Division Pacific Theater during WWII and awarded the Purple Heart from wounds received in Okinawa.
While working as an engineer for Keebler, Jim realized there was a need for predictive maintainence service on rotating machinery. At that time he founded Preventive Maintainence Co. and ran the company until he retired.
He enjoyed his woodworking shop and making things for family and friends.
Jim was involved with many community, church and local charities. He had been a Grand Knight with the Kights of Columbus Ave Maria Council # 4456 and was a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Club.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans N.W. Chapter # 38, Post #6869 VFW, and the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Beatrice Church, and St. Beatrice Church Men's Club.
Jim was very strong willed and determined and lived his life as if Death was not an option.

Visitation for Jim will be on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
Family and friends will gather at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home & Crematorium,
9568 Belmont Ave. Franklin Park on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 for prayers at 10:00 am before going to St. Beatrice Church for mass at 11:00 am.
Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
