Kevin Casserly

On March 28, 1960, the final member of the Casserly clan arrived. 
Kevin Edward (a nice Irish name, ay?) was born to James and June Casserly, the seventh in the mix of varied personalities. 
Our little brother never failed to put a smile on our faces. 
Diagnosed as mentally disabled, Kevin was not able to form words, however, he sure knew how to communicate, being so expressive and open with his emotions. 
Kevin’s love was truly unconditional, and everyone would agree he gave the BEST HUGS EVER!!! 
You felt his love when he’d lean in and greet you with “avvahvahhvahh.”

He hated chicken, was afraid of Cuddly Dudley and Santa Claus, didn’t like snow or dogs. 
But he loved his brothers and sisters, Mom & Dad (of course), and firemen. 
Every time we would ride past the River Grove firehouse, he’d always turn and look. 

Kevin lived at Shapiro Developmental Center in Kankakee for 34 years. 
In that time, he endeared himself to the staff at Shapiro, often being called a “sweetheart.” 

If you would like to join the family in saying goodbye to our little brother, there will be a visitation on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. 
Funeral services will begin at 9:00am on Monday, August 26, 2024, at the funeral home and proceed to St. Cyprian’s church for a funeral mass at 11:00am, followed by Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in River Grove.
