Lawrence Lewis

Lawrence Patrick Lewis, 68, of Chicago IL, passed away May 24th after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Larry is survived by his wife Lazara, Sons Michael and David (Emily Lewis) Granddaughter Otilia; Brothers: Glenn Lewis, Jim (Jan Lewis), and Matt Lewis; Sisters: Donita Lewis, Ginger Lewis, Denise (Ray Langosch) and Doreen (Joe Tunzi); Godsons Jay (Michelle Lewis) and Peter Lewis; his many cherished nieces and nephews, and his faithful cat, Mick.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joan and Don Lewis and sister Diane (Ken Schmitt).

Larry graduated from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, IL, where he met his wife Lazara. They married in 1983 and celebrated 40 years of marriage this past year.

A devout and proud Irish catholic, Larry mirrored the grace and love he found in God. He was a nurturing father and an adoring husband. His family is forever touched by his love and sacrifice.

Larry’s greatest pleasures in life were simple: a Stones’ deep cut, a Portillo’s cheeseburger, playing with his granddaughter, watching baseball with his boys and cuddling with his wife as they watch a movie. He will be remembered for his gentle soul and quick wit.

Heartfelt thanks go to Elmhurst hospital staff for their tender care and attention to Larry.

Family and Friends can visit with the family on Thursday, May 30th from 10:00am until 12pm at St. Cyprian Church in River Grove. Mass will follow and be officiated by Father Gene. Internment at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
