Lois Kabbe was the matriarch and stalwart hub of the family. She was born Lois Labee on March 5, 1926 in the farmlands west of Chicago and though her life saw it grow into a sprawling metropolis. In her early years she survived the great depression and the second World War, which imbued her with resolve and a practical common sense. She placed an emphasis in her life on support for her family and community. At the age of 22 Lois married Herman Kabbe a boy who grew up on the farm next to hers upon his return from the war and they built a family and a business together. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, cooking for large gatherings and trips to the Wisconsin farm to visit relatives. She was a loyal and consistent friend to many, and a caring mother, sister, aunt, and cousin. Lois Ann Kabbe was truly a member of the greatest generation. She passed away peacefully on April 19, 2013 and is survived by her brother Bob Labee and her son Gene and her four grandchildren. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved Herman and her daughter Marsha. A celebration of Lois' life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home & Crematorium 9568 Belmont Ave. Franklin Park, Il.
