Lucille Griffin (nee Dressler) passed from this life peacefully in her home Saturday evening April 18th to be with God.
She was born in Chicago on March 16th, 1921 to her beloved late parents, Arthur and Rose Dressler. She was the sister of the late Bernice Dressler Quiram.
Lucille was a graduate of Austin High School in Chicago, and was a nurse's aide during WWII. After the war she married her beloved late husband James William Ridge Griffin. They built a home in River Grove in 1950 where they lived until death.
She worked as a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone, Eastman Kodak, Revere Copper and Brass, and later at Sears. She loved life, had a wonderful sense of humor, and enjoyed being with family and friends. Her pastimes included gardening, knitting, and traveling.
After the passing of her husband, James, she became a close friend to the late Frank Huntzicker.
Lucille is survived by her three children, Kathleen (John), Thomas (Carla), and John (Elise); grandchildren Matthew (Susan), Amy (Matt), Paul (Kelley), Daniel, Heather, and Gabrielle; and great-grandchildren Jack, Gavin, Ellie, Ethan, Colin, Rodney, Sean and McCartney. She also loved her cat Pappy.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 26, from 3 to 9 PM at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home, 9568 Belmont Ave in Franklin Park.
A service is planned at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2624 Oak Street in River Grove on Monday, April 27. She will lie in state from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, with a church service following. Interment to follow at Ridgewood Cemetery, 9900 N Milwaukee Ave in Des Plaines.
