Mildred Grace Tector, 76, loving mother of Laura Susan (Tector) Bittman, Ralph Samuel Tector, Jr., John Elmer Tector, and Amanda June Tector, mother in law to James Bittman and Lisa Tector, and grandmother to Steven Alexander Tector, Jessica Grace Tector and Grace Elizabeth Bittman, passed away from heart failure on May 25, 2012, at 10:45 p.m., at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Niles, Ill.

She was born Mildred Grace Dibble on November 20, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Elizabeth Grace (Arnold) Dibble and Guy Clarence Dibble. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Eunice, Nellie, and Guy Jr.

Survivors include her daughters Laura and Amanda, and her sons Ralph and John, grandson Steven, and granddaughters Jessica and Grace and in-laws Lisa Tector and James Bittman.

Upon marrying, Millie moved to Chicago in 1959 and settled in the Hyde Park neighborhood. She later remarried, and eventually bought a home in Franklin Park, Ill in 1967, where she raised her family and worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement. In 2008 she settled in Newman, Ill., where she purchased an apartment building, living on the premises. She became an active member of the Newman United Methodist Church and the Newman Women's Club. Health complications forced her to return to the Chicago area to be near her four children. In October of 2011, she suffered a debilitating stroke; and, due to congestive heart failure, was never able to fully recover.

Visitation Tuesday, May 29, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Family and Friends will gather at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home & Crematorium, 9568 Belmont Ave. Franklin Park, on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. She will be interred at Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, Ill.
