Mike Dujin "Lala" Mike Dujin, age 92, of Chicago (formerly of Hessville), passed away Friday, March 22, 2013. Born Milivoje Dujin on September 21, 1920 to Dusan & Sofija (Terzin) Dujin of Novi Becej in Banat, Vojvodina, Serbia, Mike spent the years following World War II in German displaced persons camps. Through the sponsorship of Bishop Dionisije and the Serbian National Defense, he immigrated to East Chicago, where he became a member of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church. A bartender by profession, Mike worked in Indiana Harbor before becoming a longtime employee of Vogel's Restaurant in Hammond. Speaking Serbian, English, Hungarian & German, he enjoyed meeting friends at the San Bar Tavern and Chuck & Irene's. Known as "Lala" by his friends, he was a good accordion player, very friendly, and always a gentleman. He spent some time in California before returning to Hammond, where he suffered a series of health problems and became a longtime resident of Central Nursing Home in Chicago, IL. He is survived by relatives in Serbia. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 29, 12 noon at New Gracanica Monastery in Third Lake, IL.
