Nguyen Xuan

Nguyen thi Xuan (Xuan = Spring) was born on 2-19-1927 in South Vietnam. She was married in 1946 and has one daughter, Hong-Cuc. She was a primary school teacher in Can-Tho until 1957, and then moved to Saigon to teach at the Superior School of Pedagogy.She came to the U.S. in 1963 for a one-year teacher training and again from 1966 - 1970 to obtain a B.A. in education at SIU-C. In 1991 she joined her daughter and her family in Arlington Heights. She worked part-time and later volunteered at the Arlington memorial Library where she taught Tai-Chi until 2009 when Parkinson disease weakened her. She was very active in sports and community activities. She was well loved and will be missed by her family and the large circle of friends she made during her life time. She died in peace on July 13, 2011
