Patricia Haney

Patricia Anne (Pat) Haney née Wiley, born June 16, 1938, beloved daughter of Patrick and Ann Wiley, loving wife of the late John (Jack) Haney and caring mother to Elizabeth (Dave Kitz) and late son, John.

Pat was born in Chicago and moved to Franklin Park.
She graduated from Leyden High School and received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Illinois State (Normal) University.
Her parents were tremendously proud of her accomplishments as she was the first person in her family to graduate from high school and college.
She began her career teaching History and English to middle-school children in Arlington Heights, and later in life was a much-in-demand, favorite substitute teacher.

After marriage Pat and Jack raised their children in Itasca where she was an active member of the Itasca Garden Club.

Pat was a former Girl Scout leader, a Red Cross certified lifeguard, an accomplished seamstress, and a world traveler.
A life-long student who was always learning something new, Pat enjoyed reading, movies, and crafts, and filled her family’s home with books and color.

As a mother she had a real gift for creating spectacular birthdays, turning family trips into educational adventures, and making holidays magical.

A wake will be held at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home on Friday, August 11, from 2pm to 8pm.
Saturday, August 12, 2023, will be a visitation from 10am to 11am,
with a celebration of life service at 11am.
Interment to follow at Mount Emblem Cemetery.
