Peter Weber

May 6, 1963 — October 23, 2011

Peter L. Weber was born May 6, 1963 in Arlington Heights at Northwest Community Hospital to parents Willard and Diana Weber. He started out life in Mount Prospect, Illinois before moving to Glenview in 1972. Pete grew up with parents and grandparents who were musicians at one point or another in their lives and that led him to play the clarinet in the 6th grade which continued through high school and college. His band years brought him to the Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena California his Sophomore year at Glenbrook South High School. Pete liked to try colleges out before settling on one. He started at Western Illinois University and then moved to Oakton Community College where he graduated in 1985. With an Associate's Degree he then attended Columbia College in Chicago and later transferred to Michigan State University where he received his bachelors degree in 1988 - much to the delight of his parents. Pete had some great accomplishments at Oakton Community College which included; Student Government President, conceived of the need and helped pass the Student Center addition and served on the college presidential search committee. Further, Pete gave the graduation commencement address, received the student leadership award and a presidential scholarship. Peter launched his professional career in advertising. His first job was with Television Marketing Consultants Inc., a tiny outfit in Chicago whose office did not even have a bathroom. Employees had to go across the street for facilities. He then migrated to Foote Cone & Belding and Keroff & Rosenberg Advertising. He then landed probably his favorite job at Amtrak working as a marketing manager. He went on to work at DiMeo & Company, Direct TV and finally The Container Store. Pete lived in Annapolis Maryland for a period of time before moving back to Chicago to live briefly for a period of time in his then vacated grandparents house in Edgebrook. He bought his condo in Roscoe Village in 1997, where he really called and felt most at home. He loved the city of Chicago and had a passion for architecture. That led him to not only be a member of the Chicago Architecture Foundation, but to serve as a docent as well. Pete loved to bike ride and did so from his earliest elementary school days. As he got older and his bikes got more sophisticated he rode farther and farther. His greatest hobby was professional Lego building and he amassed a collection that would make any 10 year old envious - as well as many adult enthusiasts. His greatest travels brought him to New Zealand and Australia for a two week adventure. Pete was proceeded in death by his grandparents Peter and Myrtle Weinert, Les and Edith Weber, his Great Aunt Gussie Sabo and Great Uncle John, who were his godparents and father Willard Weber. Pete is survived by his mother Diana Weber and brother Jeff Weber married to Lisa Weber. He was Uncle Pete to Kaitlyn, Joseph, and he was Godfather to Nicholas Weber.
