Loving husband of Cherie Zipp.  Cherished father of Jennifer (Tim) Waugh and Rick Zipp. Beloved grandpa of Samantha.  Dear brother of Phillip (Donna) Zipp and Tom (Maria) Zipp.

Fond uncle and friend to many

Rich had a long career as a Metallurgical Engineer that began after he completed has Master’s Degree in 1967.  He worked at International Harvester (now Case IH ) for over 30 years and also served as a part time Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) for many years. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling and was fortunate to visit several places around the world, but appreciated coming back to his home which he lived in for nearly 50 years.  Always a horse racing enthusiast and avid sports fan, he could often be found placing bets at the Racetrack or loudly cheering on the White Sox and Blackhawks (we won’t mention the Bears) in his signature style.

Visitation will be held from 10AM until Noon on Thursday December 23rd, 2021 at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home 9568 Belmont Avenue Franklin Park, IL  60131.  Followed by internment at

Eden Memorial Park 9851 W. Irving Park Road Schiller Park, IL  60176.
