River Grove

Shirley Jean Bray nee Anderson peacefully went to Heaven on February 12, 2023.

Shirley was born July 13, 1933, to George and Vera Anderson and spent her childhood in the winter in Palm Springs, Florida.

Shirley graduated from East Leyden Highschool in 1951.
It was there that she met her late husband, Jerry Bray, and they were married June 15, 1951.

Shirley was a stay-at-home at home mom and an Avon Lady.
After her children grew, she went to work at Triton College in Food Service.
She then went to work for Wilson Sporting Goods and Follet.

Shirley's retirement was filled with traveling and spending time with her husband and children.
She also stayed in touch with her BYF'ers and longtime time life friends.
She also did enjoy the Casino.

Shirley, our loving mother, leaves behind her three daughters: Barbara Militello of Delevan, Beverly Bray of River Grove, and Lucinda (Frank) Gilbert of Mesa, three grandchildren, Stephanie Militello of Delevan, Eric Militello of Sheboygan, and Frankie (Miranda) of Colorado Springs, five great grandchildren, Desiree, Sebastian, Armon, Isabella, and Camilla, her great grand dog, Burton, and her grand cat Jellybean.

Shirley was dearly loved by her nieces and nephews: Priscilla (Ron) Heffield, Steven Mach, Debbie (Mark) Nevel, Heidi (Al) Berg, Becky (John) Gray, Joel (Debra) Mach, Dan (Becca) Mach, Donna (Jimmy) Bennett, and the late Peter Mach, several great nieces and nephews.
Shirley was a long-time member of the Mannheim Baptist Church where she was in the Choir and a Deaconess.
She taught and loved several College and Career kids.

In remembering Shirley, please think of her laugh and continued smile and her unconditional love for everyone.

"Behold, I am the Lord; the Great God of all flesh; is there anything too hard for me?"
