Zelda Massaro, who just celebrated her 73rd birthday, passed away on March 3, 2014.
Zelda adopted Franklin Park as her own after moving to the area from Battle Creek, Michigan in the1960s.
A fiercely independent woman, who was equal parts funny, loving and compassionate, Zelda finally ended her the battle with cancer at the home she was determined to return to after many weeks at rehabilitation. It was a very meaningful victory for her.
A most devoted mother, Zelda leaves behind her children, Joe (Tami) Massaro and Allison (Brian) Ozog. Equally beloved, she leaves behind her four grandsons:Joshua, Matthew, Adam and Cameron. Zelda is also survived by her brother John(Winnie) Keedy and their children and her brother-in-law Anthony Massaro and his children.
In addition to her children, grandsons and other family, Zelda leaves behind a network of adopted family and extremely close friends.
After marrying her husband Joe, she became proficient at traditional Italian classics, and Grandma Z's meatballs have become legendary. A working mother, she managed to juggle it all with a cup of good coffee and a smile. As an eternal optimist, Zelda's favorite color was yellow and it was evident to most as a result of her sunny disposition and her hopeful nature.
